Gal Gadot excitedly discusses her role as the infamous Evil Queen in Disney live-action Snow White

 

At the recent D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, Gal Gadot opened up about her role as the Evil Queen in the new live-action Snow White movie by Disney. The 37-year-old Wonder Woman star expressed her excitement about taking on the role of a villain, something she’s not accustomed to in her acting career. Rachel Zegler, who plays the titular character in the film, also shared her enthusiasm, calling it a great honor to portray the iconic Disney princess.

Expressing her thoughts, Gal Gadot discussed her upcoming role as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. Gadot told Deadline that the role is a departure from her usual characters, as she usually portrays heroines and is not used to playing the antagonist. She found the experience of embodying the iconic villain to be delightful and enjoyed the challenge of getting into the character’s mindset. Despite her excitement for the role, Gadot assured fans that the Evil Queen is a far cry from her real-life personality.

The 37-year-old actress who stars as Wonder Woman discussed her experience working on the much-awaited movie and shared that playing a villain like The Evil Queen in Snow White (1937) was something new and different for her.

Different: Gadot described the role to Deadline as 'very different than what I had done before' and that she is 'used to playing the other end of where the heart should be'

In an interview with Deadline, Gadot expressed that the role was unlike anything she had ever done before. She mentioned that she typically portrays characters who are on the opposite end of where emotions reside.

Iconic: Despite typically playing a heroine, Gadot said it was 'delightful' to have the opportunity to portray the 'iconic villain'

 

Famous: Even though she usually plays a hero, Gadot expressed her joy at the chance to take on the role of the well-known villain. Zegler, 21, also talked about her role as Snow White in the new version of the 1937 animated classic. The young actress from West Side Story shared that her character is on a quest for independence to become a fair and beloved queen. Zegler mentioned that it was a privilege to update the film for a contemporary audience. Work on the live-action Snow White adaptation started in 2016, and Marc Webb signed on to direct the movie three years later.

In the upcoming movie Snow White, Rachel Zegler expressed her excitement at portraying the beloved Disney princess alongside Gal Gadot. This dynamic duo was announced as the leads in June of last year, with Greta Gerwig signing on to help write the screenplay that November. Joining them in the cast are Andrew Burnap and Martin Klebba, who will be taking on the role of Grumpy.

In June of the previous year, Gadot and Zegler were revealed as the main stars of the film. Production was supposed to start in 2020, but was postponed because of the global pandemic. Filming finally began in March and went on for a few months before wrapping up in July. The live-action version of Snow White is scheduled to be released in 2024.
